Recap: 2024 ODPA Annual Meeting

General News,

Nearly 100 dairy farmers and industry representatives meeting attended the 2024 Ohio Dairy Producers Association annual meeting February 13 in Wooster.

ODPA has proven to be a strong voice for Ohio’s dairy farmers with the Ohio Governor, state agencies, the Ohio General Assembly and the United States Congress.  CEO Scott Higgins highlighted last year's advocacy efforts and reviewed plans for 2024.

ODPA recognizes that dairy farming is challenging, which is greatly compounded by societal pressures to demonstrate sustainability on your farm. Fortunately, leaders in the dairy industry are working to help farmers prove, document and implement sustainable farm practices that can be turned into potential revenue sources for dairy farmers.

Featured presentations included:

  • The Greener Cattle Initiative and the status of feed additives for dairy
  • Turning Burps into Cash: Athian’s innovative effort to sell methane reduction credits
  • OSU Dairy Science Department including Kirby Krogstad, the new Associate Professor of Dairy Nutrition
  • Ohio Department of Agriculture Division of Animal Health
  • Guest appearances by Congressman Max Miller and Ohio Representative Rodney Creech discussing their efforts as members of the House Committee on Agriculture
