Ohio Dairy Research Fund
The Ohio Dairy Research Fund is managed by ODPA, and was developed to support practical dairy research by voluntary dairy producer contributions that ultimately contributes to a viable and successful Ohio dairy industry.
Who Benefits from the Program?
Dairy producers directly benefit from the program. The research funded by the program is conducted at The Ohio State University. Faculty at the University submit written proposals to the Ohio Dairy Research Fund Committee for review.
The Committee consists of 10 dairy producers; therefore, producers control the program. Research projects are funded based on merit and available funds.
Advancing Ohio’s Dairy Industry
Since 1982, projects have included topics such as Johne's Disease, mastitis, reproductive performance, environmental toxins, milk quality, manure utilization, odor from dairy facilities, and nutrition.
Why are the Funds Needed?
Much research is needed to address today’s complex issues relative to dairy production, milk quality, and milk products.
Since 1982, more than $731,000 in producer investments have funded research that has greatly benefited Ohio’s dairy industry.
More essential research has been identified than there are funds presently available to support.
